Krystinne Mica, Chief operating officer
Krystinne joined the Academic Senate in October 2012 and is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Academic Senate Office and implementation of programs, events, and professional development for the 58,000 faculty members. Krystinne graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Legal Studies and completed her MA in Education Leadership at Sacramento State. Her interest in education, student development, and law, lead her to the Academic Senate to work with statewide faculty on addressing issues affecting the California community college system.
Rita Sabler, Creative Director
Rita has been responsible for the look of all of the Academic Senate printed materials and websites since October of 1999. She took over the artistic direction and design of different facets of the Senate's work, designing promotional materials for sessions, institutes, and laying out countless publications. Rita completed her Master's Degree in Interface Architecture from the Elisava School of Design in Barcelona in 2004.
Tonya Davis, administrative Director
Tonya joined the Academic Senate in July 2011. She brings to the Academic Senate over 15 years of professional administrative support and operational experience in the non-profit sector. She is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Academic Senate, human resource management, event management, as well as assist the Cheif Operating Officer with organizational activities. She is committed to the work of the Academic Senate, its mission and to her professional development.
erika prasad, communication and development director
Erika joined the Academic Senate in July 2016. Her role supports the growth of the organization by bringing awareness and visibility through strategic communications. She also fosters relationships with stakeholders to elevate the instrumental work of the Senate and its constituents. Erika has worked in the nonprofit sector for the past 3 years and has used her previous experience in for-profit service and sales to advance nonprofit organizations in the areas of membership, communications, and development. She obtained her MA in English from California State University, Sacramento.
Kiana Traylor, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOCIATE
Kiana joined the Academic Senate in July 2014. She is primarily responsible for supporting the Administrative Director, as well as other administrative duties of the Senate Office. Kiana is a motivated, business professional with a successful track record in Administration. In her spare time she shops, writes song lyrics and enjoys traveling back to her hometown, Los Angeles to spend time with friends and family.
miguel rother, Program Manager
Miguel joined the Academic Senate in February 2016. He is primarily responsible for supprting the C-ID project. Under the direction of the Executive Director and the Administrative Director, Miguel supports the day-to-day administration of the Academic Senate’s grant program – Course Identification Numbering System (C-ID).
HEIDI ROODVOETS, Program Specialist
Heidi joined the Academic Senate in February 2017. She is primarily responsible for supporting the day-to-day administration of the Academic Senate’s grant program – Course Identification Numbering System (C-ID). She is a graduate of the University of California at Davis with a degree in Art Studio and enjoys creating works of art and culinary masterpieces.

Alice joined the Academic Senate in June 2017. She is primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting activities and manages the finance and accounting of the organization.
ASHLEY FISHER, EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
Ashley joined the Academic Senate in July 2017 and is primarily responsible for supporting the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and performing other administrative duties as provided by the Executive Director. Her career path has led her to be a successful Executive Assistant since 2013 in the nonprofit sector. Her and her husband love to travel, participate in outdoor activities, and coach for Special Olympics.
veronica rey, administrative assistant
Veronica joined the Academic Senate in July 2017, shortly after her move to Sacramento from Southern California. Her primary responsibility is to recruit California Community College faculty for Chancellor’s Office advisory groups. Veronica is a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso, with a Bachelor’s Degree in English.
april lonero, PROGRAM SPECIALIST
April joined the Academic Senate in October 2017. She is primarily responsible for supporting the day-to-day administration of the Academic Senate’s grant program – Course Identification Numbering System (C-ID). She received her bachelor's degree from San Jose State University in Social Work. She recently moved to the Sacramento area from the Bay Area. April loves drinking coffee, exploring nature, and playing with her two cats.
Kyoko Hatano, Administrative Assistant
Kyoko started working for the Senate in April 2004. She is responsible for many administrative tasks supporting the Executive Director, in cooperation with the other Senate staff members. Her duties include uploading the senate publications and resolutions to the website and maintenance of them in the database. She likes to travel back to Japan to see her family and old friends.
